Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS4 PRO Runs in Half Of 4K Resolution

Few days ago PlayStation Blog confirmed that Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay trailer  have been captured on PS4 PRO in 4K and that the actual game runs in 4K. But it looks like this information is not really accurate. Digital Foundry’s Tom Morgan analysis of PS4 PRO footage of the game suggest half of 4K resolution being used. Check the full Digital Foundry analysis below.

Digital Foundry suggest a resolution of 1920×2160 being actually used in case of PS4 PRO on which the gameplay footage has been captured. Full 4K resolution is 3840×2160 just for the record. The game still looks great on PlayStation platform but it looks like early reports about 4K support for this games were too good to be true. This also leaves us with another question. Is Xbox One X version of the game going to be running in 4K? We don’t know that right now even though Microsoft’s Xbox One X Enhanced List of games suggest a 4K resolution for this game. But just as with PS4 PRO version I would wait for DF analysis of Xbox One X game footage. As soon as I learn more on this subject I will sure let you all know so stay tuned.
